Academics have always been a cornerstone of my journey. I have worked extremely hard throughout my school and college life. During my school years, I was named valedictorian of my class and received multiple high achievement awards for my IGCSE and A-level grades. Additionally, my academic rigour secured me 100% merit based scholarships in both AS and A levels. I am determined to build upon this during my university years.
While my school and college records reflect consistent hardwork, my path to undergraduate studies hasn't been as straightforward. This is not my first university application experience. Previously I was accepted to Pakistan's most prestigious university, LUMS, in 2022. But God had different plans for me, ones that would ultimately reshape my future. At that time, I couldn't embark on my undergraduate studies due to both financial constraints and my family needing my support. However, I have realised in hindsight that what I considered as an obstacle back then was really a blessing in disguise; I applied to LUMS to study humanities and social sciences and it is now that I know that is not my true calling. My problem solving nature and desire to create real world impact is better equipped to study Bachelors in Computer Science and Business. I am drawn to this degree at GUTech because of multiple reasons.
Over the years I have reflected on how a lot of businesses across different industries could upscale their business by simply integrating pragmatic technological solutions. I observed how back in my hometown Faisalabad, which is deemed as the Manchester of Pakistan for its textile industry, businesses rarely integrated technology and relied on old, outdated methods. What I observed was that technological gaps usually contributes to decline in productivity across these industries. After doing this degree, I will have knowledge of both businesses and technology which will enable to build artificial intelligence tools that can improve various sectors such as education, small businesses and finance by automating routine tasks and increasing overall efficiency. This holds special importance to me because I will be able to contribute to the societal wellbeing of both my home country and Oman. I will be able to collaborate with both local Omani SMEs and Pakistani businesses and help them with integration of Artificial Intelligence with their existing ecosystems. This will serve as means of cross cultural exchange.
If I get the scholarship, I will make the best use of the facilities which GUTech offers. I will enroll myself in GUTech training institute for Artificial Intelligence and dedicate my time to developing critical thinking skills within my niche.
I believe that I deserve the scholarship because this will help me transform my life because the problems that existed for me in 2022 when I couldn't afford to study at LUMS still exist today. Not only do I have good grades and big dreams, my mission of fostering increased critical thinking also aligns with that of the university.
