Many of my peers aspire to the American Dream, they look at United States of America as a beacon of light and aim to establish their careers there. However, I have immersed myself deeply in Omani culture and envision my future in this promising country. My aspirations are not unfounded— I am thoroughly inspired by Oman Vision 2040. I am of the view that Oman possesses the potential to emerge as a global technological leader in the upcoming years. This is because Oman is focusing on building a comprehensive framework which will revolve around digital transformation and integration of artificial intelligence.
Therefore, pursuing a degree that combines computer science and business will position me to make meaningful contributions to this important national vision.
Taking this into account, one idea I'm particularly passionate about is building artificial intelligence based personalised learning tools for students across the country that are fully tailored to the needs of Omani students. I aim to create such a tool because most of the existing tools that exist are catered to Western curricula and they don't reflect on the learning needs, values and languages of the talented students that live in Oman. The tool would be able to generate flashcard, practise quizzes, make study guides, track progress, etc. I believe that in this day and age, students can benefit a lot from increased accessibility of AI.
Moreover, I have a deep seated interest in problem solving and coding which drives my eagerness to participate in hackathons at GUTech after having gaining increased proficiency in coding and programming. Success in such competitions would not only advance my skills but also elevate GUtech's reputation in the regional innovation ecosystem which will potentially attract more opportunities for the university.
I believe that one of the core values a person should hold is loyalty and giving back to the community. After getting admission in this university, I will want to give back to the GUtech community through peer tutoring and active participation in academic clubs. Such activities would deepen the already rich collaborative learning experience at GUTech.
Through these initiatives and participation, I hope that the gap between academic learning and real world learning is bridged even further. Every student of a university is essentially an ambassador for it, my actions and behaviour in the real world will reflect on the university's reputation and I aim to take this responsibility seriously.
