This publication was strategically written to bridge the gap between clinical research and societal awareness in Pakistan. By addressing the taboo of menstruation and mental health in a peer-reviewed medical journal (JPMA), we provided a validated platform for women's health issues that are often dismissed as 'natural moodiness'.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a depressive disorder which comprises psychological and somatic symptoms brought on by sensitivity to fluctuations in the levels of female sex hormones. This published letter highlights the grave consequences of undiagnosed PMDD in Pakistani society.
